Distinguished businesses man, philanthropist, best-selling author, international speaker and wealth coach, Chris Christofi, 42, will take a part in his fifth ‘Vinnies CEO Sleepout’ in Melbourne on June 23rd this year, setting an ambitious record-breaking goal of raising $250,000 for St Vincent De Paul.

“I’m looking forward to joining the Vinnies CEO Sleepout for another year. Homelessness can happen to anyone; it can be nothing more than an unfortunate set of circumstances,” Mr Christofi said.

“I experienced financial hardship in the early days of my career and I’m actually aware that it could easily have been me if I didn’t have the support of my family. It’s so important we always show kindness to and compassion to our fellow human beings in need.”              (Image Courtesy of MC Partners).

Having already raised almost $300,000 in the ‘Vinnies CEO Sleepout’ since 2018, Mr Christofi, CEO and founder of property investment and finance group, Reventon, will brave the winter for a night in the Port Melbourne Timber Yard, with the aim of building a house in Mount Dundeed, Geelong, using the proceeds of his Sleepouts from 2018 to 2022.

Mr Christofi intends to send the Mount Dundeed house to auction, donating the proceeds to St Vincent De Paul.

“I’ve bought a block of land for St Vincent De Paul in Mount Dundeed, Geelong. I’ve engaged an established builder to build the home,” Mr Christofi said.

Mr Christofi was awarded second place in Victoria’s CEO sleepout three years in a row, from 2019-2021, and fourth out of 1,613 CEOs nationally in 2021, with his efforts seeing him appointed as an ambassador for the Sleepout and the ‘Face Of The Vinnies Campaign’ for 2021.

Each year, Mr. Christofi pledges a contribution to the funds raised and this year is no exception, with Mr. Christofi committing to contribute $3 for every $1 raised.

“I’ve contributed each year. In 2018, I contributed $10,000 of the $40,000. In 2019, I contributed 50c to every dollar. In 2020 I contributed 75c to every dollar. In 2021 I contributed $1 to every dollar and this year I will contribute $3 for every dollar raised. Since 2018, I have raised $296,099 of which I have donated $124,500,” Mr Christofi said.

“My passion to help people in need drives me to do more each year.”

About the CEO Sleepout

Every year, St Vincent De Paul holds a nationwide fundraising event, the ‘Vinnes CEO Sleepout’, in an effort to raise much needed funds for the growing homelessness epidemic in Australia. The Sleepout, held on the longest winter night in June, invites leading businessmen, politicians and CEOs to sleep outdoors for one night, dedicating themselves to raising a minimum amount of funds for St Vincent De Paul, in support of those who need it most.

According to St Vincent De Paul, since the inaugural event in Western Sydney in 2005, the Sleepout has raised over $30 million for those experiencing and those at risk of homelessness.

“Did you know while you sleep soundly each night:

·  There are more than 116,000 people experiencing homelessness across Australia.

·  Of these, 56 per cent are male and 44 per cent are female. Sixty per cent are under the age of 35, dispelling the myth that the 'average' person experiencing homelessness is the stereotypical older man.

·  More than 17,000 Australian children under the age of 12 have no permanent home,” St Vincent De Paul.
