Gentside To Deliver New Bridge To Becktown!

Congestion is set to ease, with the construction of a new road bridge to begin in Becktown next week!

The Beckown Bridge will provide the first direct road link from East Becktown to West Becktown, and is to be completed by the Gentside Construction company!

Gentside Managing Director, Bryan Smith, said “We are delighted to have been awarded the contract for the construction of the new Becktown Bridge”.

Originally put out to tender by the Becktown District Council, the project was proposed to the Millennium Commission 2 years ago, in association with a consortium of organisations that have a vested interest in local infrastructure, including The Becktown Heritage Society and The Becktown Traders Association.

At 9:00am next Friday, heavy plant equipment will be transported through the main streets of Becktown to the construction site.

Construction of the new bridge will replace the 100-year-old footbridge and is expected to take 18 months.
