Have You Completed Any Training Lately??

Hear, See, Do….and Understand.

Confucius once said: “If all I do is hear, I will forget. If I hear and see, I will remember. If I hear, see and do, I will understand”.

Here at RSA, training is the spearhead of professional development and an integral part of our continued growth, as individuals and as a team.

Combing our daily work practices with practical, relevant and stimulating training, is the “hear, see and do” that leads us all to greater understanding.

Did you know?

This year at RSA, 149 participants have completed 1,472 hours of accredited training and 1102 participants have completed 3,103 hours of non-accredited training, in areas such as Procurement, First Aid, Track Safety and Auditing.

(Please Note: a ‘Participant’ is defined as any team member who has attended some form of training. Some team members may have attended multiple courses, however each attendance is counted as a participant)

And these figures are a mere drop in the ocean when it comes training and development for the entire RSA team…

Instructional Designers Diana Veljanovski and Amiee Blewett are currently developing online training packages, with a minimum of 65 courses in varied technical specialties, some already up and running.

Predominantly engineering based, training will also include inductions for in-house team members and contractors, as well as over 50 generic modules in areas such as EBI Lock (Computer-Based Interlocking), EBI Cab (Automatic Train Control) and EBI Screen (Screen Control Room systems).

Would you like to brush up on basic PC skills?

Our training department is currently “tapping into skill sets” by recruiting team members from across the project, to deliver information sessions on the most commonly used software packages (predominantly MS Office).

Training Administrator Kerrie Hosken says staff will have the opportunity to learn a variety of “tips and tricks” from knowledgeable colleagues, coming away with greater understanding and enhanced user experiences.

Sessions will likely begin later in the year, so keep an eye out for invites and make sure you come along!

If you would like to complete any external training that you feel is relevant to your role, speak to your line manager and fill-in a ‘Training Request Form’ with his or her assistance. Once completed, please submit the form to Kerrie Hosken for processing.

Have you noticed that when your understanding of a particular topic or situation grows, you become more confident in yourself and your role…that you begin to feel more comfortable in contributing and leading?

Often the result is increased productivity and a tendency to feel happier on the job overall…this is the aim of training, and the reason we look forward to seeing you all in training soon.
