The Pacific Under Threat Of A Dangerous Chinese Military, Warns Top US General!

General Mark Milley has warned that increased aggression by the Chinese military is a cause for concern in the Pacific region.

In a report by the ABC’s 7:30, the U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, suggested that a sophisticated Chinese military, committed to building military bases throughout the South China Sea and elsewhere in the Pacific, has become significantly more dangerous in recent years.

“I think that what we’ve seen over the last 5 years, really 5, 10 and even 15 years, is a noticeable market increase of intercepts. Aerial intercepts and maritime intercepts, and we’ve seen a degree of assertiveness that the rise over run if you will, the statistical increase in the numbers of these activities that the Chinese navy and the Chinese air-force have been doing, is significant,” said Genereal Mark Milley.

Several unsafe interactions involve Australian forces, as well as American, Canadian and several other forces in the vacinity of the South China Sea, including the Phillipines and Vietnam.

General Milley raised concerns that the Chinese have the military capability to dominate the Pacific and are rapidly growing their presence in the region.

“I think they’re very determined, I think they’ve demonstrated that over time when they’ve built a series of what they call a string of pearls not only throughout the South China Sea but elsewhere,” said General Milley.

“They’re building these military bases, they’re not going out in a traditional way of conquering islands, they’re actually creating them...and these bases give them a significant degree of military capability, so it’s clear the Chinese have designs to dominate the South China Seas from a military stand-point and that should be a concern to people.”

General Milley’s comments come after President Xi made remarks to the party congress in 2019, challenging the Chinese military to build the capability to take Taiwan by force, by 2027. General Milley suggests that whilst there is no indication of imminent attack, the Chinese are definately working towards building the capability to do so and continue to exercise that capability, in a variety of ways throughout the year.

“In terms of military capability it is clear that the Chinese are developing the capabilities in all the domains, in space, in cyber but also in the traditional domains of land, sea and air, to conduct a cross channel attack, an invasion if you will, to seize the island of Taiwan if they make the political decision to do though,” said General Milley.

U.S. President Joe Biden stated categorically that the U.S. would defend Taiwan if China invades, however General Milley insists that should Australia say no, Australia and the U.S. would still be “shoulder to shoulder”.
